April is the month of festive season. Though it is well behind the time, the song for Avurudu will never die. The latest is the ‘Avurudu Kaale’, a Avurudu song by Melantha Perera of ex Mirage fame.

‘Avurudu Kaale’ is penned by Melantha and the beautiful melody was created by Mela himself, while Suresh de Silva mixed and mastered the final product.

The lyrics of ‘Avurudu Kaale’ song portraits the present situation of the country, where villagers are fighting the crisis of lack of all necessity for Avurudu rituals, such as oil, milk, rice and fire etc.

‘Celebrating Avurudu is the priority of Sri Lankans. So I thought of creating a song based on the actual side of the Villagers, who are going through the hard life of living during the Avurudu time’ Melantha said.

Likewise Melantha created a song ‘Happy birthday Jesus’ for last Christmas.  ‘Happy Birthday Jesus’ hit the sky through digital platforms after the release in December 2021.

‘Happy Birthday Jesus’ is the brainchild of Mela, who penned the lyrics and created music for the song.

‘It was a tradition for me to compose a Christmas song for the students of ‘Riversheen School of Music’ every year. That’s why I thought of creating something new for Avurudu as well. I shared my new creation through my WhatsApp group. This could be a turning point for new norm digital production and started to work on it’ Melantha said.
