Lot of Information – No Transformation

Attaining all the vegetables under the sun would be of no use unless you know how to prepare a nourishing meal or salad. My grandma had the habit of collecting every piece of cloth she got, all of them were not sewn and was constantly stagnating in her cupboard.

I also know of another personality who has read a numerous amount of books about smoking, yet he continues smoking on a daily basis.

How many of our childhood dreams have faded away since we have not been able to pursue them diligently? Nowadays so many people are obsessed with information and knowledge, yet they have not been able to transform those findings into wisdom through practicing them daily. Information can be identified as a raw fish, it does not have any taste or advantage for a human being unless it is spiced up and cooked or marinated appropriately.

People read so many books from across the world about peace, yet they live extremely distracted lives throughout their journey of life. Information should be converted into knowledge through a process of refining thoughts and then it should be transformed into wisdom through a continuous process of actions. One of the biggest problems I have seen in life is that people are in possession of a lot of information on life, yet they fail to transform their lives by utilising that information effectively.

As youngsters we used to watch a lot of films of Bruce Lee, once we come out of the film hall, we feel as though we are world renown karate champions. We watched karate and we liked it but since we never lived it, it never came out of us.

The moment we faced a circumstance such as a fight in the streets, we expected karate to just come out of ourselves, but it never did as it was placed in the information realm in our minds and not in the realm of action. Since we have failed to transform information into action, that information just lived within us as though the raw fish remained in the freezer.

I know of a poor man who teaches people the way to become rich in life out of what he has heard about becoming rich. People constantly made fun of him.

To the people he was just a man with a lot of recipe books who does not know to even cook a coconut sambol.

I noticed my son Joshua eagerly watching cooking shows that teaches the methods of cooking delicious meals. The first thing me and my wife did was, we gave him the opportunity to cook a few of those recipes. We wanted to transform him into a doer and not just a talker. Our intention was to encourage him to become a doer rather than a talker.

We already have enough and more talkers in this world, yet we have very few doers. We see many who can whistle yet we see very few who can do a summersault.

If you intend to live a fruitful life then all you must do is sow the seeds you possess and cultivate them until they bring forth a fruitful outcome. Concealing the seeds in your palms and dreaming of gathering a harvest will not bring you success.

You can give life to your dreams by taking necessary action towards it, if not your dreams will die as dreams. People collect many recipe books that contain recipes from around the world, but they fail to prepare a single meal to make their loved ones happy.

Therefore, take a firm decision today to revert this lifestyle before you die with your dreams. Another aspect you must fathom is that our children are carefully observing us and they will follow our footsteps.

There once was a famous lawyer who went to the pub every morning to have a few shots of whiskey. Whilst he was heading towards the pub one winter morning, he looked back and noticed his son following him placing his foot on each giant footstep of his father that was made in the snow.

He turned back at once and ran towards his son, embraced him, and hurried back home. He took a decision never to step into the pub ever again. Our children do look up to us more than we can ever imagine.

Life is a challenge and each one of us would have to face a battle a day even though you might be the richest man in the world. Battles differ from one person to another regardless of their socio-economic lifestyle.

For some it is the struggle to find their three meals to fulfil their hunger, for another it can be their children who are in destruction and another might struggle with their broken families or their own guilty conscience. Regardless of the size and nature of the problem, there lies one thing in common which they all seek, and that is nothing but “PEACE”.

Knowing facts about something does not bring you peace. Having read the bestselling book on how to overcome challenges will not help you to overcome the challenges unless you walk through the challenges yourself. Therefore, constantly practice what you know until you reach the peak, where you are equipped to challenge your fears in any specific area in life.

If you are not fluent in English, keep on speaking in English with your friends until you are able to challenge your insecurities. Purchasing an English reader on a monthly basis, and possessing one hundred and twenty (120) books by the end of ten (10) years will not help you to become a fluent English speaker.

Just as a baby throws a fit on the first day you introduce solid food, so will your mind and body as you try to revert a behavioural pattern which has become your default behaviour for many years.

It is important to understand that the only way you can reach the final destination you desire is by turning back your vehicle and driving towards the correct path. Shouting, murmuring and grumbling will not take you towards the correct path.

They will only frustrate you even more and push you towards the wrong path where you would end up with no good for you at all. Watching all the world famous weight loss programmes will not transform you, unless you work out and change your unhealthy eating habits. A speck of wisdom is quite sufficient to seek the right path in this journey, rather than having all the information in the world without any practice at all.

What is the use of having the best car, a degree in motor mechanism, the latest phone with the most effective google direction methods and a supportive partner seated next to you, if you do not know how to drive a vehicle? If you know how to drive, then others cannot even attempt to stop you from reaching your destination. If you do not get through grade five (5), the possibility of getting through your O/L’s is very low.

Therefore, do not stop once you obtain the information. Convert the information into knowledge and wisdom, walk from one level of fear to the next.

Fear is identical to a high jump hurdle, unless you jump over it, it will always be there. If you want to jump 6.2” you must first jump 5.2”. Just gazing at the bar will not help you to overcome. Step forward with the information you obtained from your trainers on how to take your first step.

If you fail, it will teach you a lesson. One day you will overcome the challenges when you have learnt the reasons for your failures. Gathering information is awesome, as long as you put it into practice on a daily basis, so that you live a life of transformation and not a life of stagnation.

Water will remain pure and usable as long as it keeps flowing, the moment it stagnates, it will lose its purpose and originality, it will become murky and unfit to be used.
