Fawzul Aleem claimed the top position followed by Andrew Sean and Rashitha Aluthge, as the launch of Sri Lanka’s first ever Formula 1 e-Gaming Championship organised by SRL in conjunction with Mandarin Reid eSports took place last week. The tournament had a complete grid of 21 participants and it was regretted more could not be accommodated by the grid as there was considerable interest. This interest continued with the audience that tuned in to view the live feed across the various platforms it was broadcasted.

With nail biting moments the first leg proved to be the perfect start to a roaring championship. It was finally Fawzul Aleem from Sri Lanka followed by Andrew Sean and Rashitha Aluthge who claimed top points on the leader board coming in as the top three in ascending order. The second leg was held yesterday.

The first leg of eight races saw Sri Lankan participation from across the island and overseas. This is a promising statistic for both e-gaming in Sri Lanka and Formula 1 esports. Audiences were kept captivated as a keenly fought battle was seen throughout the 10 e-racers who progressed past the qualifying round.
