Last week’s Page 1 picture — Clarification and apology
View(s):Editor’s Note: No one likes admitting a mistake and especially when one has got caught to a photoshopped photograph.
Last week’s page 1 photograph in this newspaper of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa relaxing at his residence purportedly watching his recorded address to the nation was just such a mistake, we have to admit. Once alerted to the doctored photograph, however, on Sunday morning, it was quickly pulled out from all online editions of the day’s newspaper, and replaced. We put a high value on fact checking, but this one slipped through. Apologies to the President and our readers for what has been a bona fide mistake.
