A string of protests, over issues ranging from lack of fertilizer for famers to rising cost of living  due to the fuel price increase,  were held in different parts of the country during the past few days.

A protest over the increase of fuel prices and its impact was held by a group of fishermen in Ambalantota while several farmer protests were held in different parts of the country. JVP activists also held one  in Boralanda in Welimada. Plantation workers in Kotagala also conducted a sit in
protest condemning the plantation management’s decision to offer them only three days’ work if they did not pluck 20 kg of tea.
