Sachin shines in Central Hills
Top class golfer, Sachin de Silva won the Donald Steel Trophy 2021 at the Gents Gross event which took place at the Victoria Golf and Country Resort (VGCR) last weekend. Another golfing sensation youngster, Kayla Perera showed her class by winning the Ladies Gross win in the Pam Fernando Trophy event. The colourful event was hosted under strict health guidelines at Rajawella by VGCR.
Sachin de Silva won his maiden Donald Steel event
Sachin was in top form with lightning speed shots with top class accuracy. He won on the 33 score count back while youngster, Nirek Tejwani too scored 33 ending as second best. Defending champion, Haroon Aslam did everything correct but at the last hole (18) he lost out on points, lost the race in the end.
Ahalya Rajan another top end Ladies golfers who plays in VGCR and NEGC too was in sparkling form winning the Ladies Nearest to the PIN, Ladies Nett winner and Ladies Gross runner-up accounting for three of the awards. Her maturity paid dividends for her three wins. This was the 23rd year in tandem this event was organised by VGCR.
