“My end is your beginning” German film drama directed by Mariko Minoguchi will be screened online at 7 pm on April 30 by the Goethe Institute in Colombo. Premiered in June, 2019 as part of the Munich Film Festival, the film was released in German cinemas on November 28, 2019.

Written by the director, the screenplay explores two interwoven stories. The first is centred around Nora and Aron who have been together for two years and are very much in love, when, right at the beginning of the film, the young man is killed accidentally during a bank robbery. The story then follows Nora’s processing of this brutal bereavement in the days which follow, as well as rocketing backwards in time through the couple’s memories (to the time they first met).

Born in Munich in 1988 to a German mother and a Japanese father, Minoguchi at the age of 16, an internship as an editor awakened her passion for filmmaking.

“My end Your beginning” was included in the pre-selection for the German Film Award at the beginning of January 2020. It was also nominated for a number of awards.

The Vimeo-link for the film would be available after registration via Goethe
Institute website.
