View(s): St. Anthony’s College thrashed Maris Stella College by an innings and 67 runs in their Under-19 Inter-School cricket encounter which concluded at Katugastota yesterday.
St. Anthony’s made 320 in their first innings and restricted Maris Stella for 120, enforcing a follow-on. Kaveen Fernando top scored for Maris Stella with 21, while Divyesh Ramiya, Asitha Wanninayake, Gihan Ebert and Nimnaka Jayathilaka claimed two scalps each.
Needing 201 to avoid an innings defeat, Maris Stella failed to prevent the inevitable as they were shot out for 133 runs in the second essay. Ebert claimed a five-for while Jayathilaka picked three. Determined knocks from Sahan Dulara and Kaveen Fernando were futile.
