Park Strikers emerge BPL winners
The winning team 'Park Strikers' while their skipper receives the trophy
Park Strikers, led by Tharanga Sanjeewa defeated Owitta Warriors led by Mohomed Parsi Fazeer at the Bangalawatte Premier League (BPL) limited overs cricket tournament held at the Bangalawatta Sports grounds in Wattala on March 7.
Adhil Jiffry from Park Strikers was adjudged player of the tournament. Mohamed Ramiz from Park Strikers won the award for the best batsman and Jekalan Rishan from Owitta Warriors won the best bowler’s award.
Five teams, namely, Park Strikers, Bangalawatta Super Kings, Owitta Warriors, Circular Terrace Gladiators and Araliya Lions, participated in this tournament.
Organised by the Bangalawatta Sports and Welfare Association, the tournament was the first to be held in 30 years since the association was set up. Wattala Pradeshiya Sabha member R. Wijeyakumar gave away the trophies and medals.
