Although it is safe to be celebrating Valentine’s Day out in public as long as health guidelines are strictly followed, people still may be reluctant to go out in the middle of a pandemic. Here are some sweet date ideas that you can do with your partner in the comfort of your own home or even virtually if you are taking social distancing very seriously.

Channel your inner Jamie Oliver

As lovely as it is to enjoy a fine-dining experience, it might be a little more intimate and a whole lot of fun to cook a meal together. Even, if the two of you are not Michelin star chefs, attempting to recreate world-class dishes could  be an interesting activity to do together. Protip – Keep in hand plenty of snacks to munch on during the process and for the possibility that you will have to wait till UberEats or PickMe delivers your actual dinner.

A bike ride into the sunset

Thankfully with Valentine’s Day falling on a Sunday, it means that a lovely afternoon can be enjoyed outdoors. Why not take a bicycle ride around your neighbourhood or down the various jogging tracks that are around Colombo just in time to catch the sunset? A picnic would be a sweet end to the day that can be laid out in your garden, verandah or semi-private public space.
