St. Benedict’s College, Colombo 13, with a rich historical heritage of more than 155 years, is proud to have an Old Boys’ Union, that has always come out with unique and new concepts, which has immensely benefitted both the college and the society in the past. They have yet again launched a project to honour their past teachers, titled “NAMADIMU”

This project was launched to honour and show gratitude to the teachers who have dedicated more than half of their life span to groom their students. The project “NAMADIMU” includes a life insurance cover, a monthly monetary donation, an annual medical checkup and a counseling clinic amongst many more special benefits, for 55 retired teachers who have nurtured their students in both the primary and secondary divisions of the college since 1960.

The blessings received from the Director of the College, Rev. Bro. Dr. Pubudu Rajapakse, FSC, towards this project was an immense strength to the Old Boy’s Union. This project was accelerated, within a short period of three months, in spite of the current difficult times due to the Covid Pandemic, thanks to the generous donations received from the Benedictine Fraternity domiciled here and abroad showing their love and dedication towards their Alma Mater. The agreement for the Life Insurance cover was signed with Soltlogic Insurance.

The “NAMADIMU” project carries a valuable message to past students of every school in Sri Lanka, as the Old Boy’s Union of St. Benedict’s College strongly believe that it is the duty and obligation of every student to pay tribute to their past teachers. On behalf of the Old Boy’s Union, this project was jointly coordinated by Mr Dharshaka Fernando and Mr Marlon Perera under the able guidance of the

Hon. General Secretary Mr. Priyal Perera. In order to maintain transparency, audited accounts will be made available to all donors.

Those within the Benedictine Fraternity wishing to obtain further information or contribute towards this project, could email to bensobusrilanka@gmail.com, log onto www.bensobu.lk or call Project Chairman Mr Darshaka Fernando 0773 – 853 322 or OBU Office 2 444 461.

May this great effort be a tribute to all teachers!
