Two universities for nursing to be established

View(s):

Last week the Cabinet approved a plan to establish two special purpose universities with degree programmes for nurses.

Under this plan a nursing college and a teacher training college will be converted into special universities that will give quality education to nursing students.

The move it is believed would produce qualified professionals who would be competitive in the global job market for nurses.

For this purpose the university act no. 16 of 1978 would be amended to include special purpose universities that are different from the traditional universities.

The Education Ministry would also seek assistance of the Health Ministry in this venture.
