Many who were engaged in different occupations lost their source of income in a blink of an eye. The pandemic proved to be catastrophic for small traders and those in the tourism sectors. It has clobbered the economy, forcing many businesses to shut down, and as a result people have started selling things out of their vehicles.

Many mobile vendors can be seen around Colombo selling various items.

For homeowners, the struggle to pay their due finance is the most crucial part, and as a result they tend to look for alternatives. Even though the government promises leasing concessions in the new budget, they have not paid attention to this. In fact, people have had to find their own remedies to re-pay loans and leases. Many complain that the government has not addressed their issues in a pandemic situation like this
