The Government yesterday lifted the lockdown on six apartment complexes in Colombo city, but most residents will still have to remain indoors as the lockdown on the areas has not been lifted.

Deputy Inspector General Ajith Rohana said that though the restrictions were lifted, apartment complex residents in lockdown areas would not be able to go to the roads, use public transportation or open up their shops.

Colombo’s Chief Medical Officer Dr Ruwan Wijayamuni explained that the COVID control task force had adopted a scientific method to lift the isolation of six law income residential complexes.

They are: Methsanda Sewana and Mihijaya Sewana in Modara, Randiya Uyana in Mattakuliya, Muwadora Uyana and Samagipura in Grandpass and Mihindu Sethpura in Dematagoda.

Dr Wijayamuni said health officials conducted PCR tests on one member from a family and it was based on these tests the decision was taken to lift the restrictions.
