Forty two schools in Kandy closed due to COVID, to re-open tomorrow

Forty two (42) out of 45 schools in the Kandy city limits that were temporarily closed due to COVID related health concerns will re-open on Monday (December 14) Central Province Governor Lalith U.Gamage said.

Trinity College, ThakshilaVidyalaya and Kalaimagal Tamil MahaVidyalayam within the Kandy city limits would remain closed.

The 45 schools within city limits and another five schools in Akurana were instructed to be closed by the Governor on November 25.

COVID cases were reported in Akurana, Mahaiyyawa, Bogambara with travel restrictions still in place in these areas.

Several staffers from the ENT clinic of the Kandy General Hospital also tested positive for the virus.
