Soorya Partner Rotary ‘ Stop the Spread’ campaign

In the backdrop of Sri Lanka crossing a 9000 Covid-19 patients with 17 deaths and six suspected deaths as reported by media today, Rotary stepped up the campaign to ‘ Stop the Spread” with Sun Match Company brand ‘ Soorya’ hand washing stations and ‘ Sun disinfectant products’  partnership starting from the base hospital of Puttalam. We need more of these partnerships if we are to contain the deadly virus that has taken over 1.2 million lives globally and the infected people crossing the 53 million mark said Project Director for Rotary Dr Rohantha Athukorala.

Rotary has so far reached 1.5 million households with a thrust of a school campaign on the new normal behavior required driven by 5800 Interactors which is around 25% of the population. The campaign was pumped up with a ‘ sports influencer’ campaign with National Olympic Committee( NOC) Top athlete and included South Asian Games / Commonwealth Games winners plus five Sri Lanka Cricket Captains and three National Rugger Captains that can be valued at almost a 1 billion rupees endowment value campaign the Governor of Rotary Ajith Weerasinghe.

The 2000 Rotarians on the other hand is driving the ‘ Covid-19 control Environment Partnership’ Certification with Sri Lanka Standards Institute( SLSI), Ministry of Trade which is the first in the world that is ensuring the new Normal is engraved in the DNA of the company. Almost 300 companies have secured the certification and helping Sri Lanka ‘ Stop the Spread’ said the Governor Weerasinghe.
