With the aim of keeping youth engaged and motivated by highlighting success stories of inspiring young leaders the National Showcasing Team of AIESEC Sri Lanka recently organized a podcast series titled “Leadership Is All About” to keep young minds engaged during the lockdown.

The podcast series aired on the official Facebook page of AIESEC Sri Lanka, AIESEC Sri Lanka Anchor Channel; its Spotify Channel and its official YouTube channel.

The first season of the “Leadership Is Also About’ Podcast Series consisted 12 episodes while the second season is also on the cards.

The first episode of the podcast series was a discussion on “How Organizations Should,” with the participation of Navodhya Jayasinghe, Finance Manager of AIESEC International for the 2020/2021 and President of AIESEC Sri Lanka for the term 201/2020 and Sisitha Gayara, President of AIESEC Sri Lanka for the term 2020/2021.

AIESEC is a global, non-political, and youth-led organization that strives to achieve “Peace and Fulfillment of Humankind’s Potential” by engaging and developing the leadership skills of every young person through cross-cultural exchanges, team experiences, and global internships. AIESEC is currently present in more than 114 countries and territories, and its young members look to develop leadership development and management, cultural understanding, and experiential learning.

AIESEC Sri Lanka, as a member chapter of AIESEC International, has been encouraging many young leaders since its establishment in 1995. AIESEC Sri Lanka is currently one of the largest youth-run organisations on the island with an active membership of more than 1000 students and recent graduates representing 8 universities and higher education institutes in Sri Lanka.

“The principle concentration of this podcast series was on exploring topics that would be helpful in discovering and developing leadership potential of young people in a way that they become engaged and inspired to think and act differently. It was also about providing young people with the right knowledge that will help them to have a different perspective on leadership and encouraging them to be successful leaders in the future,” said ThiliniMediwake- Lead Podcast, National Showcasing Team of AIESEC Sri Lanka.

“Areas that are essential and crucial in developing leadership potential of young people have been discussed throughout the first season of the Podcast series. The podcast series has brought forward a very insightful and practical outlook on topics related to leadership development, organizational development, people management, sustainable development goals, community development, partnership development, financial management, and self-leadership,”saidThilini.

“AIESEC is an organization made by youth, for youth. As such the main target audience of the podcast series is young people between the ages of 18-30,” added Thilini.

Moreover, this is an initiative that brings forward the real stories of great leaders and breakingstereotypes. Similarly, the series encourages young Sri Lankans to not only pursue their dreams but also recognizes the importance of being leaders who are empowered, self-aware, solution-oriented and interested in resolving  issues,” says Thilini.

Every podcast episode is available on AIESEC Sri Lanka official YouTube Channel.
