Madushanka to be produced in courts on October 8
Sri Lanka fast bowler Shehan Madushanka who was arrested in May for alleged possession of heroin is to be produced before Courts on October 8, police confirmed.
Madushanka was arrested on May 24 in Pannala when he was hanging around the Kudalupoththa tank, allegedly to sell the stash. He was carrying just over two grams of heroin when detained. He has been in remand prison since. He faces a jail term for drug-peddling, a criminal offence. His cricketing career too remains suspended.
The right-arm pace bowler took a hat-trick against Bangladesh on his one-day international debut in January 2018.
He also played two T20 matches against Bangladesh in 2018, but has not played an international due to injuries. Despite a dream debut, he was not expected to be one of the national squad players expected to begin training.
