Nine National Colleges of Education will be upgraded to universities that can award degrees to students. The objective of this project is to make the entire teaching community graduates.

This project and its objective was proposed as a future goal of the Education Ministry’s 2019 annual report which was presented to Parliament last week.

Under the goal of upgrading the National Colleges of Education, the Government would be reviewing the proposal of converting the National Institute of Education to a degree conferring institution.

The Ministry would also conduct a survey on the physical and human resources of all National Colleges of Education and prepare four-year plans for their development.

The Ministry also planned to establish a system for the professional development of the academic staff of the National Institute of Education and the National Colleges of Education.
