Aalul Mahfil Union elects Muzeena Ousmand as new President
View(s):The 88th Annual General Meeting of ‘Aalul Mahfil Union’ (AMU) was held on Sunday August 30 at the Padang Auditorium, Colombo Malay Cricket Club, Colombo 2.
Muzeena Ousmand became only the second female to be elected President of AMU, the first being Shirley Amit, wife of Sagara Amit. Muzeena is the daughter of late Nazeem Thunku Ousmand and Gnei Sithy Daneena Yusoof.

AMU founded in 1932 is driven by its motto ‘Unity is a Blessing’. The AMU’s core activities are social welfare, fund-raising, organising annual sports day, religious events, visiting the elders, annual trips, helping the needy ones among the family and death donations to family members.
“I am grateful to the members for nominating me to the Chair as President of Aalul Mahfil. I promise to carry out the duties entrusted to me to the best of my ability. My main intention is to have our own roof above for the future generation to conduct Aalul Mahfil activities,” said Muzeena Ousmand.
