A new song on late martial arts legend Bruce Lee, penned by veteran sports journalist Srian Obeyesekere will be released soon. Bruce Lee, who changed the art on its head and went on to become famous as an actor, is a subject to many songs and movies around the world. This is the very first time that a journalist written a song about a sportsman turned actor. The vocals is handled by  Kalasoori Prabath Salgado while Achitha Rathnayake is the project coordinator.

Srian Obeyesekere

Obeyesekere says, he was inspired to pen a song on Bruce Lee considering the tremendous impact he has created among generations of people.

‘I felt a song on the martial arts legend was something lacking and that it would be appropriate to thus tribute the legend. It encompasses Bruce Lee’s wondrous works in giving new meaning to the martial arts as well as his intellectual influence as a great philosopher as well which has roundly won him recognition as the most influential person of the 21st century’ he said while adding that the Lee song on a fast beat on the melody of  Jason Donovan’s 1989 hit song ‘Sealed with a Kiss’ has been done justice to by the unique rendering of Prabath Salgado.

‘The moment Srian said that it was a song on Bruce Lee, what struck me was to do some experimenting on some fast tracks and I found the melody of ‘Sealed with a Kiss’ so striking with some changes on a fast hip hop beat. I can assure Bruce Lee fans here that this song is something they cannot afford to miss’ said Salgado.
