View(s):

The Southern Provincial Council has begun a programme to develop 45 rural schools. The project aims to reduce overcrowding at popular schools, by improving classrooms and other facilities and by recruiting new teachers.

The project will see facilities at 39 Sinhala medium and six Tamil medium rural schools upgraded to be on par with national schools.
Fifteen of these schools have already been developed under this programme, which is the brainchild of Southern Province Governor Willy Gamage.  Pic by Sirangika Lokukaravita
