Former St. Anthony’s College rugby player and Junior Coach of Sarasavi Uyana Maha Vidyalaya, Kingswood College and St. Anthony’s, Rohitha Mendis passed away after a brief illness in Kandy yesterday.

Mendis played for the Antonian 2nd XV from 1999 to 2001 before starting his coaching career at the Peradeniya School. He was taken into Kingswood by the then Head Coach Ronny Ibrahim. Mendis later on moved to coach his alma mater. He was specialised in junior coaching. He took the Katugastota Antonian Under-16 outfit in 2016 to claim the All-Island Championship.

“Rohitha was a highly committed coach who did yeoman service to Kingswood and. St Anthony’s. He moved in from Sarasavi Uyana MV, where he was coaching in his early stage of his coaching career,” former Kingswood and present Isipathana College Head Coach, Ronny Ibrahim said.
