UGC Chairman Prof Sampath Amaratunga said the hostels will be used in future to quarantine the batches of students who will be brought back from various countries over the next few weeks.

He said the hostels will be disinfected properly before they are returned and made available for the state university students.

More students are due back from Bangladesh, Russia, India and Nepal among several other countries, over the next few weeks.
