All of us walked into the idea of being home-bound on a questionable note, the country itself went into a state of isolation due to the ongoing pandemic. Majority of us were compelled to make several changes and take matters up positively to plough through.

The changes rippling across is not easy for most of us to grasp onto, each of us have different coping mechanisms for this pandemic. It is only natural to grow on your anxiety when you switch on the news to understand what is happening globally, you cannot help yourself but wonder “What is going to happen next?”.

Being homebound brought on a lot of new experiences and introduced new modes of operation for a variety of functions. Whilst coming into terms with the changes, we decided to take on the experience on a positive note with numerous plans in mind. Did we actually tick off any of these plans we made for ourselves? As a week or two go by, we’re struggling to get out of bed in the morning let alone get fit!

In situations like this, one should prioritize more on things which are within their control. Focusing on what you can do to make the most of this experience will help you be in a much better place both mentally and physically. Personally for me, I devoted myself to my work and my exercise routine. Working out under current circumstances can have a lot of benefits. I know it is easier to fall off the wagon and put exercising on the backburner, but, there are a few points I’d like to share with you which enabled me to work out from home in a promising perspective.

1. Finding your purpose

Why do you want to exercise today? What is driving you to get through this session? There is no wrong answer here. Each of us are driven by different intentions, no purpose is considered too little or too big. The primary purpose mostly associates with losing weight, however, there are numerous other factors such as increasing mobility, feeling better about yourself or may it be increasing your physical capabilities. Knowing your purpose will aggravate your session leaving you with a sense of accomplishment.

2. The Endorphins Effect

Endorphins are chemicals which interact with the receptors in your brain whilst inducing “positive feelings” throughout the body similar to that of morphine. This is the euphoric sensation which is also referred to as a “runner’s high” in certain contexts. This factor can ward off stress and anxiety under current circumstances and will help you hold a positive approach towards your day.

3. A second chance at your
resolutions (Now or never!)

At the dawn of 2020, if you fell short of your resolutions in working out. There has never been a more suitable opportunity for you to get back on achieving this. Instead of giving up on this resolution, you can start over on a fresh slate. Given the evolved state of affairs, there is a chance that you are able to accommodate time for this as opposed to how your usual daily routine goes.

4. Make time instead of finding time (2% of your day)

Make an exercise regime for yourself and try to plan your day ahead whilst accommodating this. If you’re currently working from home, you are saving up time spent travelling back and forth. 30 minutes is sufficient for you to have a good workout, this will only come to 2% of your day. It is important that we utilize the gift of time fruitfully.

5. Get adventurous with it!

A workout does not have to hold a conventional set of movements you do within a span of 15 to 30 minutes. You are at liberty to create your own exercise routine which best fits you. If an activity such as Zumba, Yoga or MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) interests you, the options for you to experiment are endless. Our generation is blessed with the accessibility of information so conveniently, this enables us to educate ourselves onto such activities. Regardless of you following a particular type of workout, you can still utilize your household items and design your own workout routine at no cost.

Exercising can be perceived as a form of personal development to enhance your health and wellbeing. Not only is this admired as a form of a lifestyle, but it is growing increasingly important given the prevailing conditions. Exercising aids in boosting immunity and is often known for exhuming out bacteria within the lungs and the airways.
