Overcoming the challenges of social distancing posed by COVID-19, Asian International School will commence its new school term on 20th April 2020.  Both students and teachers are excited  to get back to class “online” through teams which have been set up using Microsoft Office 365.

Microsoft Office 365 is a platform that facilitates the setting up of a digital hub of interactive class rooms.  This enables Communication, Collaboration, Critical thinking and Creativity in a virtual face to face digital environment.  All students of AIS from Play Group to Advanced Level have been provided access to Microsoft Office 365 for this purpose.

The entire teaching faculty of AIS have been working round the clock in the last few weeks preparing teaching material for digital delivery and getting themselves trained in the suite of features that are available to them on Office 365.  “The outbreak of Covid -19 has really tested the patience and resilience of people all over the world.  I am thankful to my staff for rising above the challenge to get on with teaching and learning even in a lockdown scenario.” commented the Principal of AIS Mr. Harshana Perera.

The students will work from home using their electronic devices from 8am to 1.30pm on all week days just like a normal school day. They will have the opportunity to raise their hand and ask questions from teachers in a virtual classroom setting. They will be submitting homework assignments and also do online assessment. They even have opportunity to see their classmates and interact as usual.

After more than a month of staying at home and enjoying the company of family while engaging in holiday activities initiated by the school, such as, poetry, essay, short story and art competitions, the students are now prepared to get back to school online and engage in serious work.

“I know that all our students are looking forward to communicating and collaborating with their teachers and classmates which is an experience they have missed while being at home. They are now eagerly looking forward to returning to school as they always do at the beginning of any new school term.” commented the Principal.
