J’pura University offers funding for projects, technology which can help control COVID-19 outbreak

The University of Sri Jayewardenepura had offered funding to develop technology needed to control the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

The University had said the funding is not meant for launching new research projects on the subject.

“If your research group has any research outcomes which will have an immediate impact on the situation in the country due to Covid-19 outbreak, the University of Sri Jayewardenepura University Business Linkage Cell is willing to offer financial assistance to develop prototypes or to commercialise those technologies immediately,” the University said on its website.

“The funds are mainly to encourage developing immediate, feasible and novel solutions for current issues faced by the health sector and other sectors (education, transport/delivery etc.) of the country.”

The technology readiness level of the proposed product, technology or solution and its potential to be immediately introduced to the market or relevant agencies will be strictly considered in funding, the University added.
