The Examinations Department will take a major step forward by digitalising the application process through online application submission, the Examinations Commissioner Sanath Pujitha said.

All school Principals had been instructed to use the schools’s IT facilities or state Nenasala computer centres, to submit online applications. Principals were advised to appoint teachers or office assistants for this task.

The initial online application submission will begin for Grade five Scholarship Examinations this year. About 350,000 students will sit for this year’s Grade Five examinations.

He said the online process will reduce paperwork, mistakes that occur while filling forms and problems caused by postal delays.
