View(s):Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT), the country’s telecommunication pioneer, has embarked on a special project to empower small and medium enterprises (SME) to develop their business with the use of modern information and communication technology (ICT).
The SME sector is considered as one of the most strategic sectors in the economy of the country. These entrepreneurs contribute immensely to economic growth, regional development, creating employments and in alleviating poverty while accounting for 75 per cent of the country’s total enterprises, 45 per cent of employment and more than 50 per cent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), SLT said in a media release.
“These entrepreneurs are still lagging behind in modern technology and modern communication technology, despite the progressive contribution made to Sri Lanka’s economy. Sri Lanka Telecom believes that SMEs can make a greater contribution to the national economy if they would be empowered with modern technology to develop their products, services and marketing strategies to be in par with the modern world,” it said.
Bearing this objective in mind, SLT has taken the initiative to provide SMEs across the island to further enhance their business with modern technology and communication at concessionary rates without any down payment. SLT has joined hands with more than 25 leading Sri Lankan firms including financial institutions and technological service providing companies in Sri Lanka to empower these SMEs with ONE STOP ICT solutions.
Sri Lanka Telecom will be providing many services including Digital Marketing solutions, Software Development solutions, Communication solutions, Network and Network Infrastructure solutions, Entertainment and IoT solutions and Data hosting and Storage solutions to these SMEs to increase and broaden their respective markets.
