The Ministry of Education (MoE) has received Cabinet approval to recruit 729 teachers to teach foreign Languages in National schools.

These teachers will be recruited from graduates in French, German, Hindi, Japanese, Arabic and Chinese.

The MoE said that, in view of the importance of knowing foreign languages to acquire jobs overseas, it has been decided to include foreign Languages in the National syllabus and to establish Language Labs in schools. It has also been decided to increase the number of National schools teaching foreign Languages, so that more students will take up foreign Languages for their tertiary education. – CC
