Sri Lanka Insurance commences environment enhancement of 100 needy schools

Sri Lanka Insurance (SLI) kicked off yesterday the second phase of its CSR initiative ’Pasal Piriyatha Surakimu’ school enhancement drive at 100 underprivileged schools located across the country.

The SLI-initiated ‘Pasal Piriyatha Surakimu’ CSR programme in 2005 as an outreach corporate social responsibility initiative, is now aiming to continue it from 2019. The CSR initiative which mainstreamed with the company’s multidimensional CSR policy aims to nurture future leaders to excel in education and to enhance their mental and physical well-being by maintaining a pleasant environment in their schools, the company said in a media release.

SLI has extended assistance to develop infrastructure and refurbish schools, including painting their buildings, desks, chairs and providing any necessary assistance to selected 100 rural and underprivileged schools.

“Sri Lanka Insurance strongly believes in uplifting lives of Sri Lankan people and CSR has been and is a core element in its business strategy.

‘‘Pasal Piriyatha Surakimu’ reflects SLI’s philanthropy of empowering the nation as the strongest and the largest national insurer in the country,” the release said.
