Eight young talented footballers represented Sri Lanka in the first-ever Under-12 Milo Champions Cup, held in Spain in partnership with FC Barcelona. The Sri Lankan team clinched the Milo Green Card award for demonstrating the spirit of true sportsmanship and fair play, in line with Milo’s global values and principles.

The Sri Lankan team comprised six males and two females who competed against 13 countries such as Malaysia, Australia, Jamaica and others. Each match was played by a five-member team, which included one girl.

The ‘Milo Road to Barcelona’ campaign kicked-off in Sri Lanka with an All-Island Under-12 Sri Lanka Schools Football Tournament, organised by the Sri Lanka Schools’ Football Association, under the patronage of the Ministry of Education. The tournament was open to boys and girls born in 2008 and 2009, and had 13,000 children take part.

Nestlé Milo and FC Barcelona have a four-year global partnership aimed at enhancing children’s quality of life, with a number of programmes to make healthy and more active lifestyles aspiration and accessible to children. Milo has long been associated with physical activity, supporting millions of Sri Lankan children via sports and nutrition campaigns for more than 30 years, while FC Barcelona is one of the world’s leading football clubs.
