Western Hospital, a leading ISO 9001:2015 QMS accredited kidney transplantation and dialysis hospital, has opened a modern new channel wing.

Chief guest Dr Amal Harsha de Silva (Deputy Director General-Ministry of Health), Professor Rezvi Sheriff (Chairman Western Group of Companies) and many leading consultants were present at the event held last week. The new channel wing, designed by Zainab Ashraff, boasts of elegantly designed channel rooms and comfortable waiting areas for patients.

Chief Guest Dr. Amal Harsha de Silva, Chairman Professor Rezvi Sheriff and CEO Omar Sheriff unveil the opening plaque at the new channel wing.

In addition, the new wing is equipped with technology to track appointments. It helps patients to see their appointment numbers in a live queue. The queue management system is a collaboration between DOC990 and Western Hospital to improve convenience and reduce or eliminate the waiting time in Sri Lankan hospitals.

Patients can make appointments at Western Hospitals through several modes such as calling Western Hospitals directly (0112-685413) or calling 990 or via the DOC990 website or mobile application. Once an appointment is made, patients will receive an SMS inclusive of a web link, which will provide details relating to the doctor’s expected time of arrival, the start of consultations, the number of consultations available for the day, the number of the ongoing consultation and many other features that benefit both the consultant and the patient alike.

During the event, many Western Hospital staff members were honoured for their active service. CEO Omar Sheriff and Deputy Director Ameena Sheriff were honoured for their contribution to project coordination and marketing. In addition, the hospital became the pioneer hospital in Sri Lanka to adopt the Dialog Genie Fintech Application. Western Hospital hopes to move in to more technological innovations in the future to improve its customer service.
