Sri Lanka Karting Circuit (SLKC) Bandaragama will host the country’s first ever 8-Hour Endurance Karting Challenge on July 13. The Endurance Karting Challenge, a test of man and machine against the clock, is organised by the Ceylon Motor Sports Club, the local representative for FIA-CIK, the world governing body of Karting.

The event is a true endurance race where teams compete for 8 hours non-stop round the internationally acclaimed track managed by David Pieris Racing & Leisure Ltd, a member of the David Pieris Group of Companies.

This includes mandatory pit stops and tyre changes. After battling it out Kart-to-Kart for 8 hours, the team which completes the most number of laps wins. Trophies and medals are on offer for the winner, first and second runners-up of the Endurance Challenge, as well as the Fastest Driver of the Day.

The 8-hour Endurance Karting challenge is open to teams comprising National advanced Kart racing drivers. Each team must have a minimum of 3 drivers, and up to a maximum of 6 drivers.

“We are currently calling for entries, and registration can be done by calling the SLKC hotline on 0770 555 577. Entry will be granted after scrutiny, on a first-come-first-served basis,” said an SLKC official.

Since its last year’s re-launch, SLKC has hosted fully-fledged Endurance Karting that follows international regulations from start to finish. With professionalism in mind, the race will be marshaled by a certified team.

In addition to the exciting Endurance race, several attractions such as Air Rifle shooting range, a Swimming pool (including kiddies pool) and a multi cuisine fusion restaurant will be available to participants and spectators on the day.

“SLKC is open for rental operations, providing the opportunity for Karting enthusiasts to experience a professional world class motorsports facility. A fleet of several types of Karts are available on hire for different skill levels, to try out the sport or simply have a fun filled, thrilling experience. SLKC provides safety gear such as helmets and gloves ensuring safety of the drivers. Karting is known as the entry level for future motorsport champions and we are keen to see more newcomers coming into this challenging sport,” SLKC stated in its official media release.
