Chamika Gunasekera (Fairfirst Insurance) 5/9 in 3 overs is weekend star
A devastating spell of bowling by right arm medium pace bowler, Chamika Gunasekera (3-0-9-5) and a quickfire 62 not out in 33 balls, with 5 sixes and 4 fours by Asel Sigera, helped Fairfirst Insurance (Fairfirst) to register an impressive 7-wickets win over Asia Capital, in the ongoing 2nd Fairfirst Insurance Trophy –MCA ‘F’ Division 25-Over League Tournament 2019, continued last weekend.
It was another rain affected weekend, with two games ending without a result and a majority of the other matches played under reduced overs.
The other noteworthy performances for the weekend came from H. Uddika of Ansell Textiles (Ansell)- 5/14 vs Regnis Appliances (Regnis), Madushanka Ratnayake of Brandix Essentials (Brandix)- 70 vs Technomedics, Isuru Amila of Technomedics- 79 vs Brandix, Sachira Fernando of Commercial Credit (Com.Credit) ‘C’- 71 not out vs Union Assurance Ltd. (UAL), WD Perera of Janashakthi Life (Janashakthi)- 71 vs Coutaulds Clothing (Coutaulds).
Whilst Fairfirst and Brandix scored their 4th win on the trot, Coutaulds won a double header.
