Expressway revenue on high gear: Rs. 370m in two weeks
View(s):The Southern Expressway earnings soared during the National New Year season. During the festive season from April 5 to 18, it earned Rs. 370 million — an eight percent increase when compared to the revenue earned in the same period last year, according to Road Development Authority (RDA) Director S. Opanayake. He said the expressway was used by 1.3 million motorists during the period, with 92 percent of the vehicles being cars and vans.
The director said the RDA made use of the revenue for maintenance work and plans were also underway to relay the expressway, starting from next year.
