Australasian Academy of Hospitality (AAH) the premiere hospitality higher education provider in Sri Lanka has been attracting many students from all parts of the country to follow their Australian Hotel Management programs. Incidentally AAH is the only Australian owned BOI approved higher educational institution in Sri Lanka offering 100% Australian Hospitality Management programs.

AAH offers Internationally recognised Australian Hospitality Management programs right here in Sri Lanka at a cost of less than 20% of studying the program in Australia as a full-timestudent. Academic delivery quality and standards are maintained to the highest level as per the requirements of the Australian Qualification Framework (AQF). With a mix of Australian and Local faculty AAH students are in for a great experience academically and a learning outcome much better than any other institution operating here in Sri Lanka.

This edition we feature a young Trinitian from Kandy who has taken a bold step towards achieving his future career objectives by starting the Advanced Diploma in Hospitality Management while being in the Advanced level class.

What do you like about Hospitality Industry? What caught your attention?

What caught my attention in the industry of hospitality is that it is a very active and vibrant Industry. You get to move around different functions and opportunity to travel to many countries to be employed in many kinds of hospitality careers, enjoyvariety of experiences that keeps changing every day. Once I am qualified, I will have a wide range of options when it comes to choosing what I want to do. Also, when it comes to hospitality it’s all to do with people, meet someone new daily, have a good time and a good experience. Hospitality is all about people that is what it makes the industry special.

What is the course you are studying at AAH?

The course I am following is the Advanced Diploma in Hospitality Management. My future career objective is to own my restaurant. It is very interesting to learn from industry experts who have excelled in their respective careers worldwide.

How did you get to know about AAH Academy?

I was determined to start a Hospitality Management program while I am preparing myself for the G. C. E. Advance Level examination this year. I challenged myself and convinced that I will do both the A/Level full time and my Hospitality Program part time. I was able to convince my parents to accept my desire.

While I was searching for institutions, I visited EDEX Expo Kandy and I walked in to AAH stall. After speaking to the AAH counsellors my parents and myself was convinced that this is the place to be. I joined their weekend classes without disrupting my School work.

What impressed you the most about the campus after starting your classes?

From the first day that I came to the orientation I found it very different to the other universities they showed me a clear path on how this happens and where it takes me. When it comes to the studies it is interesting how we must do our assignments and presentations I love working with technology and all the work that we must do is by using technology where the studies also go with the change of the world of technology.

There are many activities other than the academic aspect, such as taking the students for outings, the socialising provides us a  great experience in the life in the university where we get to balance our studies and other activities. The practical exposure for each unit has been provided accurately which has helped in terms of learning. And my favorite part so far of it is where the campus takes students out to lunch outings to different levels of food and beverage outlets which gives good exposure.
