Police and Serendib clash in football final today
Sri Lanka Police SC and Serendib SC Mawanella will clash in the final of the Premier League Division One Football Tournament today at 6.30pm at the Sugathadasa Stadium in Colombo.
The Football Federation of Sri Lanka (FFSL) conducted the tournament where 18 teams participated.
The Police team entered the final defeating SLTB 3-1, Geli Oya SC 2-1, Hylines SC 2-1, Thihariya Youth SC 7-0, drew with Badowita United SC 1-1, Old Mazenodians SC 0-0 and New Star SC 1-1.
In the Super 6 Round Police beat St. Mary’s SC 3-1, Moragasmulla SC 2-1, Serendib SC 4-1 and in the semi-finals Police SC beat New Star SC 4-0 to qualify for the finals.
Serendib SC entered the final defeating Cooray SC 3-1 while overcoming Greenfield SC 7-2, Don Bosco SC 5-1, Red Sun SC 3-2, Old Bens 6-0, St. Mary’s SC 5-0, SLTB SC 2-1, New Star SC 2-0. They lost to Moragasmulla SC 1-3 and Police SC 1-4. In the semi-finals Serendib SC overcame Cooray SC 3-1 to reach the finals.
