A series of networks have been built across the globe that connects billions of businesses and devices to the Internet where billions of dollars are transacted through the Internet. “We help our customers to build cyber security frameworks to secure their businesses,” said Sajan Paul, Head of Enterprise and CTO of Juniper Network of India and SAARC at a round table media conference held at the Hilton Colombo this week.

He said Information Technology (IT) has grown over a period of time and every business today is heavily dependent on IT, be it the retail industry, health care, finance or the manufacturing industry.

“We were in Sri Lanka in 1997 to provide a service sector platform and is presently working on enterprise development infrastructure. We have a number of meetings scheduled this week with officials regarding enterprise development that helps to develop growth of businesses in Sri Lanka.”

Juniper Network is in the business of information and the communication industry based in California, US that had built large scale networks such as telecom networks or large scale government infrastructure and information technology as their core business in many countries including Sri Lanka.

Replying to queries from the media, Mr. Paul said that Sri Lanka has opened up their businesses that include telecom that had seen mergers and acquisitions not only in Sri Lanka but in this part of the sub-continent. “We have multiple locations in India and have a number of partners based in Sri Lanka and globally.”

Referring to Juniper’s Artificial Intelligence, he said AI plays an important role to process billions of data on the Internet. “We are also planning to acquire the Mist Wireless company with AI component to direct how radio signals are managed.”

With regard to recent cyber attacks, he said there is no clear visible pattern as observed. But the only way to thwart such attacks is with the use of AI that can predict such incidents. Harshavardhan Kathaley, Juniper Networks Channel Lead, India and SAARC, said they need clientele to provide tailor made packages that suits them best individually. “We have a very good partnership with corporates in Sri Lanka.”

Juniper says it has experienced tremendous growth in the country and across the region, particularly in the service provider sector. In recent years, Juniper has made significant inroads into the Enterprise market and has achieved several wins across the government and education sectors that include the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation, Colombo Dockyard, Ministry of Higher Education and ICBT Campus.
