Top US Clinician Award goes to Dr. Gunaratnam

Naresh T. Gunaratnam, M.D, a physician of Sri Lankan ancestry, was the recipient of the 2018 Distinguished Clinician Award presented by the American Gastrointestinal Association (AGA)

Presenting the award, the AGA said Dr Gunaratnam, “has made a huge impact on patient care in his community and improved gastroenterology-oncology care by starting the endoscopic ultrasound & interventional GI program at St. Joseph Mercy Ann Arbor hospital in Ypsilanti, Michigan”.

Dr. Gunaratnam, who is a product of the D.S. Senanayake College in Colombo 7, is a director of research and obesity management.

He has been visiting Sri Lanka annually and has helped run a girls orphanage and elder care home in Trincomalee for the past 17 years.
