ABBA’s new music to be delayed

ABBA has announced their new music will be delayed until around autumn this year. The group was due to release two new songs around December 2018 titled ‘I Still Have Faith In You’ and ‘Don’t Shut Me Down’. A tour of ABBA’s holographic avatars was also to follow. But reports say some agreements need to be ironed out.

Calvin Harris Rag ‘N’ Bone Man’s duet  hits the UK charts at No. 7

Calvin Harris and Rag ‘N’ Bone Man’s duet ‘Giant’ debuted on the UK top 10 at No: 7. The collaboration has been largely welcomed by fans as Rag ‘N’ Bone Man leads the vocals on the dance house track. Calvin Harris last hit was the chart topping duet ‘Promises’ with Sam Smith last year.

R Kelly dumped by record label

Embattled R&B artist R. Kelly has been dumped by his record label RCA days after protesters gathered outside the label’s office in the US. Kelly has been with the Sony owned label since the 90s. His image has taken a massive hit after a six part documentary Surviving R. Kelly was released recently. Many female artists pulled out their collaborations online from streaming services last week over sex allegations the 52 year old Kelly was facing.

Sam Smith and Normani lead chart entries

The new releases for 2019 are beginning to impact the UK charts. Sam Smith and Normani have led the chart entries on the UK singles chart as their duet ‘Dancing With A Stranger’ debuted at No: 4. The song is a follow up to Smith’s chart topping previous duet with Calvin Harris titled ‘Promises’. The new uplifting hit is likely to be lead single from Sam Smith’s upcoming third album. For Normani, who is a member of the US all girl group Fifth Harmony, ‘Dancing With A Stranger’ marks her debut on the UK singles top 10 for her solo career. She signed up a solo deal in 2017.

DJ Gesaffelstein makes his UK chart debut

The French techno artist and DJ Gesaffelstein debuted on the UK singles chart with ‘Lost In The Fire’. The song came in at No: 9 and features the vocals of Canadian singer Weeknd. The synthpop track is one of the three new releases of the New Year to figure out prominently. Gesaffelstein whose actual name is Mike Levy has worked with the likes of Lana Del Rey, Kanye West and Weeknd previously.

Bryan Adams to release new album

Bryan Adams will release his first new album in four years. The 59 year old ‘Summer Of 69’ hitmaker is perhaps aiming at the younger segment as he has teamed up with Ed Sheeran in co writing and recording a duet ‘Shine A Light’ which is also the title of the new album. The 11 track album due out on March 1 will also carry a duet with Jennifer Lopez called ‘That’s How Strong Our Love Is’ – a ballad according to reports from Canada.

Meanwhile the much decorated Canadian artist began a mini tour of his country on January 22 which will end on February 1.

Ava Max holds onto the UK singles no. 1 spot

As Ava Max holds on to the UK singles No: 1 spot for a fifth week with ‘Sweet But Psycho’ but with only a combined sale of 30,000 as against her nearest competitor. It appears the song’s chart reign is about to end next week with Ariana Grande’ ‘7 Rings’ leading the battle for the top spot.
