Bloomfield and Galle CC recorded first innings wins against Navy SC and Chilaw Marians in the two-day Premier Emerging League cricket tournament encounters concluded at Reid Avenue and R. Premadasa Stadium yesterday.

The second day’s play saw Bloomfield after bowling out Navy SC for a low score of 111. However Navy SC’s bowling pair Kavika Dilshan and Malinga de Silva shared six wickets restrict Bloomfield to a score of 170 runs.

Navy SC batting the second time going in for quick runs made 235 for 9 declared and Bloomfield set a target of 177 runs for victory lost wickets at regular intervals and ended the day on 40 for 5.

Half centuries by Yasoda Lanka and Nimesh Vimukthi helped the Chilaw Marians who were struggling at 109 for 5, at one point to recover and post 200 runs in their first inning.

Earlier in the day Galle CC resuming from their overnight score of 182 for 7 ended their innings making a formidable score of 268 runs. This came on the back of a half ton made by Chanaka Bandara and useful knocks coming from Akalanka Ganegama and Ashan Madusanka while Chathura Randunu bagged six scalps for Chilaw Marians.

Meanwhile two matches got underway yesterday at the SSC and CCC grounds with Under-19 Reds and CCC dominating proceedings against SSC and Under-19 Blues.

Sri Lanka youth player Sonal Dinusha cracked a 78 with 11 boundaries to help Under-19 Reds, taking first lease of the wicket, to make a modest score of 226 and later Dilum Sudeera and Chamindu Wijesinghe shared five wickets between them to have SSC struggling on 132 for 6.

The opening day’s play of the match between CCC and Under-19 Blues at CCC got off to a late start with the match getting underway only at 1.00pm and Under-19 Blues batted first and was bundled out for 106 with Madawa Warnapura and Wanindu Hasaranga doing the damage. CCC in their turn ended the day on 84 for 2.
