The Dept of Examinations will extend the concession of an extra 10 minutes to read and understand the question papers, offered to GCE A/L candidates, to GCE O/L candidates as well. Commissioner General of Examinations, Sanath Poojitha told the Education Times that, though it was initially introduced only for the A/L, they were extending it to the O/L, in view of requests from teachers and parents.

He said that, after the A/L exam, they received positive comments about the time concessions given. He said this will enable students to carefully study and understand the question paper and select their questions. He said that, earlier there were complaints that the time provided for answering was not sufficient, which has been overcome with the additional time given to read the questions.

“For the A/L exam they introduced an officer to supervise the reading time and to check if candidates were using unauthorised devices, and the same arrangement will continue for the O/L,” he said. `(DW)
