The real taste of T20 cricket was given to the huge number of spectators at the SSC Grounds last Saturday when Sri Lanka scored a heart stopping four wickets win over India at the Red Bull Campus Cricket World T20 tournament finals. Sri Lanka was represented by Business Management School and India was represented by the Poone MMCC University team.

Put into bat the Indians rattled up a healthy 211 for 2 wickets in 20 overs. A quick fire stand of 117 runs for the second wicket by Murtaza Trunkwala and Yash Nehar and a 94 run unfinished partnership for the 3rd wicket by Trunkwala and Divyang Hingekar laid the foundation stone for the Indian Total.

Trunkwala was unbeaten on 78 came off in 48 deliveries including two sixes and eight fours while Nehar scored 58 with the fifty coming off in 42 balls which included two sixes and five fours. For Sri Lanka Janith Liyanage and Devind Pathmanathan claimed 1 for 44 and 1 for 45 to be the most successful bowlers.

In their run chase Sri Lanka were given a sound start by Pasindu Ishara putting on 44 runs made Sri Lanka batters their task easy. Apart from the opening wicket partnership a 94 runs and a 48 run partnership for the 2nd and 3rd wickets put the host country in the box seat. But four quick wickets with the scoreboard reading 203 for six wickets left sheet anchor Ranitha Liyanaarachchi and Devin Pathmanathan to take Sri Lanka into victory in the last ball in the 20th over.

Chief scorers for Lanka were Dineth Thimodya (54), Hashan Dumindu (28), Supeshala Jayatilleke (29), Ranitha Liyanaarachchi (26 n.o.) and Koshan Dhanushka (21).

Left arm orthodox spinner Rohan Damle kept a nagging length to trouble the Lankan captured 4 for 3.
