Kandy Perahera

There are a lot of peraheras in Sri Lanka. Some of them are Kandy Perahera, Devinuwara perahera and Katharagama perahera etc. Among these peraheras I like mostly the Kandy Perahera. It is very beautiful and it is the longest perahera in Sri Lanka.
Kandy Perahera is in August. There are a lot of items in this perahera. They are fireball acrobats, whip crackers, drum beaters, dancers and flag bearers. A very special thing in the Kandy Perahera are the beautiful decorated elephants. A majestic tusker is carrying the Sacred Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha on its back. It shows the cultural value of Sri Lanka. There are a lot of people come to watch those things. Among these people, there are a lot of foreigners. We are proud to have a perahera like this.

My environment
“Tweet, tweet, Tweet.” I heard a sound of a honey bird. I stopped my school homework and went out. I saw honey birds jumping on the flowers. A butterfly was on a red rose. The rose was more beautiful with the butterfly. I walked in the garden. My mango tree was taller than me. I saw red flowers on our rose apple tree. Oh! Those were rose apples! Ting, ting, ting… I saw a squirrel eating a rose apple. It jumped from branch to branch. There was a bunch of ripe gauvas on our guava tree.

Yesterday night it rained. And there was water in the compound. I jumped into the water. The water spread everywhere. Suddenly a butterfly came and fell into the water. I got the butterfly onto a leaf. I saved it. I felt very glad. I heard my mom calling me. I ran to the house. I enjoyed my environment.
