A daughter’s debt
You saw me when I was born,
You saw my rosy hands and felt my soft feet.
But I didn’t see you
because I was asleep…

You heard me mumble my first words,
You spoke to me, you always lent a helping hand.
Though you know what I said,
you seemed to mumble
words I could not understand…

We had chats while you were at work and I came home afterschool
but listening was no choice -
I couldn’t hear you
because texts have no voice…

You learnt about me
while life in bed was no more
an appalling song,
but I couldn’t see you
because then you were gone.

You’ll see me grow up,
You’ll always be by my side,
But I’ll never be there for you
or see you in your invisible disguise.

But though you’ll never see me
as the girl you last saw
I’ll never forget you
I’ll love you like you did to me,
as life goes on.

If I have a dog

If I have a dog,
I will take him for a walk
I will feed and put him for a nap
And let him sleep on my lap
When he is sick, I will take him to the vet.
