Epic deploys Sri Lanka’s only fully- fledged E-Card Management System

The Epic Technology group, synonymous for innovative ‘FinTech’ Solutions in Sri Lanka, will be implementing a new strategy towards diversification in digital innovations for the benefit of the public and private sectors in the country, two top officials who led the company towards reaching new heights, said.

The company’s latest achievement was the deployment of Sri Lanka’s only fully- fledged Card Management System including comprehensive issuing, acquiring, and reconciliation and automated disputed resolution, they revealed.

A small backyard company formed in 1998 has now been transformed to a technology leader in the secure payment industry in the island through sheer determination and hard work, Epic Group Chairman and Managing Director Dr. Nayana Dehigama told the Business Times.

After 20 years of successful operations from a small beginning, Epic has made major strides in adopting and delivering modern technology across Financial Services Industry (FSI), Information System Security, Enterprise Digitalisation, Mobile Applications and E-Governance sectors, both locally and internationally, he disclosed.

At present this diversified, techno-entrepreneurial conglomerate is offering world-class life-enhancing innovative solutions to public and private sector enterprises in the region, he said adding that, Epic has expanded its services beyond Sri Lanka, and established its operations in Malaysia, Japan and Singapore as well.

In furtherance to developing and implementing world-class software solutions, Epic is supplying the Sri Lankan Passport since 2003, new Polycarbonate National e-NIC (National ID Card) and all four denominations of Circulation Coins for Sri Lanka, he revealed.

Epic Group now operates in an ultra-modern head quarters constructed with an investment of over Rs. 350 million in Battaramulla, and it has world class research, development, and recreation facilities.

“We are proud to be a home grown entity ready to enter international markets with its world-class products by competing effectively with international brands,” Dr. Dehigama said.

The company implemented its first-ever branchless banking product in Sri Lanka through HSBC Sri Lanka Operations, transforming over 750 Post Offices to work as HSBC branches, he pointed out adding that the largest branchless banking system in Malaysia has been introduced by Epic.

Epic Group Director and CEO, Viraj Mudalige noted that the main aim of the company has been to create a unique electronic secure payment platform that facilitates processing of all kinds of banking transactions that initiate from multiple channels such as ATMs, EDC/POS, mobile phones, TABs, PDAs and Internet Banking.

Epic has developed the ‘Omni-Channel Synchroniser’, which is now rapidly gaining global acceptance, he said adding that it will unify all the payment channels into one single platform, so that banks will have single platform to create and manage multiple revenue channels.

The company was instrumental in introducing the single wallet for payer and payee in Asia, by creating a solution together with the Bank of Maldives in 2015.

Epic is among one of the few global vendors of this solution that have been fully certified by the largest card associations namely Visa, Mastercard and American Express.
