Schoolchildren’s Street Drama on International Anti-Smoking Day
View(s):A schoolchildren’s street drama, organised by Divisional Secretary Ms N. Navasivayam, to mark International Anti-Smoking Day, was held in Ariyampathy of the Manmunai Pattu, Pradeshiya Sabha Division on Thursday. University students too participated in the programme.
The Batticaloa District expends an estimated Rs 400 million on alcohol and tobacco. Ms Navasiyam said that, if the expenditure on alcohol and tobacco is cut down, the money saved could be spent on Education. Pix by Deva Achchudan
