The Ministry of Education (MoE) has allocated Rs 2 billion for the professional development of Human Resources (HR) in selected institutions coming under the purview of the MoE, to improve the standards in schools, a senior official said.

MoE Additional Secretary (School Affairs) Ashoka Hewage said the institutions and their allocations are National Institute of Education- Rs 300 million, Provincial Teacher Training- Rs 300 million, Digital Learning in Teacher Centres- Rs 300 million, and Foreign Training for Teachers- Rs 300 million.

In addition funds will be utilised to develop new syllabuses, introduce new teaching methods, develop new papers on new methodology, and train staff of the respective institutions, to raise their professional standards. For Foreign Training, Asian countries will be selected with priority for training in Maths, Science, English and Sports. - DW
