Roshen Silva continued his form with yet another unbeaten century

Roshen Silva slammed his second ton of the Super Four Provincial cricket tournament following his career best knock of 231 against Team Colombo on day one against Team Kandy in their match played at Sooriyawewa Stadium.

Roshen’s knock which came off 165 balls comprised nine boundaries and was involved in another valuable partnership with Dasun Shanaka who made a 90 with 12 boundaries and a six.

The pair following their double ton partnership against Colombo  Province in the first match of the tournament associated in another 167 runs stand for the fifth wicket which helped Galle  Province taking first lease of the wicket to end day one on 344 for 7.

Earlier; opener Madawa Warnapura cracked a 66 with ten boundaries and was also responsible for a 103 stand for the third wicket with Sadeera Samarawickrama who made a dogged knock of 40.

The duo came to the rescue when their side lost two early wickets that of Lahiru Milantha and Upul Tharanga were dismissed for nine and two respectively with the scoreboard reading 26 runs before Roshen and Dasun took over, after the dismissal of Madawa and Sadeera when Galle’s score was on 129.

Meanwhile in the other match between Team Colombo and Team Dambulla played at the Rangiri Dambulla Stadium saw Colombo Province taking first lease of the wicket after being in a perilous position of 52 for 5 recover to make a score of 210 which came on the back of a dogged innings of 85 by Lasith Abeyratne who added a valuable 75 runs stand for the sixth wicket with Wanindu Hasaranga who made a 52.

Right arm pacies Lahiru Madusanka and Asitha Fernando did the early damage sharing four wickets to have Team Colombo batting in tatters while Lahiru ended with a five wicket haul.

Team Dambulla in their turn saw openers Kusal Mendis and Dimuth Karunaratne giving them a sedate adding 47 runs but lost three quick wickets to end the day on 73 for 3. The matches will be continued today.
